Résumé en anglais : | Introduction : The difficulties in accessing traditional investing methods (such as the stock exchange, real estate...), particularly for those with little savings, has prompted them to seek alternatives that are lower risk and easier to use, with no effort required to grasp the process (Guirado et al., 2018). As demonstrated by the subprime mortgage crisis, traditional investments are perceived as risky (Wehinger, 2012) by some individuals due to the possibility of a crisis, asset volatility, the contagion effect (Boubaker et al., 2016), and information asymmetry (Berndt et al., 2021) from traditional investments that pose a threat to investors. For example, in 2008, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac threatened to go bankrupt while holding $5 billion in mortgage debt (Baily et al., 2008). People still desire access to investing options, which is why crowdfunding looks to be a viable option. |
